We started TANGIBLE project, an initiative that focuses its experimental development on the use of tangible interaction technologies (Tangible User Interfaces – TUI) integrated in kitchen furniture to increase the quality of people’s experience when they use the available technological options in a smart kitchen or Smart Kitchen context.

Over recent years, the introduction of technology in kitchen spaces where food is conceived and produced is leading to a paradigm shift in the restaurant industry. This means the availability of a growing number of technological components and digital content of new devices and household appliances for daily use as a gateway to more efficient, simple and collaborative work. This new technological and material context means that the objectives and available resources have to be more sophisticated and, even so, less understandable and usable from a perspective of global user experience in this space.

Main goals of the project:

1. To Facilitate control and access to the technological options available in this environment (Smart Kitchen) through the integration of flexible and sensory electronics advanced in the usual materials of kitchen furniture.
2. To stimulate creativity, co-creation and inclusivity, as well as the realization of more simultaneous tasks during the development of shared work processes in the kitchen.
3. To offer new value utilities to kitchen users thanks to the availability of new data sources acquired from the interaction of said users with this habitat equipment.
