- The Safe Smart Food consortium decided on the guidelines for its common strategy through an online workshop, which was a great success!
The Excellence SAFE SMART FOOD program is part of the ESCP consortium, which launched the European Commission to encourage clusters in Europe to intensify collaboration between regions and sectors. These partnerships are expected to work together on joint strategies, specifically in the case of the Excellence call, to support the development of excellence in cluster management and strengthen interregional collaboration between industrial clusters. To this end, the consortium is asked to develop cluster management skills to drive excellence in SME support; to establish cluster strategies at individual and European level; and support the implementation of these strategies; among other goals.
As part of the ESCP-4x program, SAFE SMART FOOD also provides for the definition and implementation of comprehensive individual and partnership strategies and the establishment of a common roadmap with the aim of promoting a favorable ecosystem for growth of SMEs and other members of the cluster so as to increase their competitiveness and internationalization.
To build this common strategy, the consortium has organized a series of activities to understand the reality of each of them and find the key success factors of each cluster, converging on five common strategic areas:
- Strengthen cluster governance, reputation and corporate branding, and support members in their core business activities.
- Promote sustainability throughout the value chain.
- Foster the competitiveness of members through innovation.
- Strengthen international collaboration and information exchange.
- Lead larger and more powerful projects with greater impact on the industry.
The current pandemic made it impossible for a face-to-face workshop to be organized so that the Safe Smart Food consortium could meet face-to-face and decide on the main activities in all areas that make up the 5-year common strategy. As a result, a virtual activity was held on November 12 with the support of a facilitator, Xavier Lesauvage, and an interactive tool (klaxoon.com) that provided participants with an active response to all planned activities. At the end of the session, more than forty strategic initiatives were identified. All ideas were analyzed, grouped, and classified according to their relevance and impact. These ideas, together with the strategic proposals of the individual clusters and the analysis of the members of the SSF, helped to build this common strategy of the SSF.
Individual and common strategies are being developed for all cluster members to soon discover their new services and activities!
The Safe Smart Food project is made up of 5 clusters from 4 EU countries, Smart Food Cluster, Business Upper Austria, Packaging Cluster, the Foodservice Cluster and Food Products Quality Cluster, which have joined forces to promote the internationalization of associated clusters. and its member companies.
The objectives of the project are to strengthen collaboration between clusters and improve their management capacity to create the conditions for a favorable ecosystem in the agri-food sector to drive innovation, competitiveness and internationalization of SMEs and offer them a integrated service program based on excellence.
