Madrid, April 2, 2020. After the decree of the State of Alarm and the temporary closure of the more than 300,000 restaurants and bars in our country, ElTenedor, the leading online restaurant reservation platform in Europe, has been working to continue supporting the sector in these difficult moments. In order to help restaurants overcome the impact that COVID19 is having on their businesses, ElTenedor has launched “Let’s Save Our Restaurants”, an initiative that will allow restaurants to offer “prepaid vouchers” to stay afloat and have income for the duration of the closure of their establishments. The project has the support of the main agents in the sector such as MICHELIN, FACYRE, Revolución en Sala, Hostelería Madrid, Eurotoques, Gremi de Restauració, Cluster Foodservice and other industry organizations such as Madrid Fusión, San Sebastián Gastronomika or Comer de La Vanguardia , in addition to other companies that have wanted to join the project such as Mindshare, Brandelicious …
From the web SalvemosNuestrosRestaurantes.es, and soon through ElTenedor, users will be able to help their favorite restaurants by buying a prepaid voucher so that, when all this happens and the restaurant opens its doors again, they can enjoy its gastronomy with a lunch or dinner.
A global initiative for the catering industry
This action, supported by gastronomy associations and key institutions in the sector, is aimed at all restaurants in our country, whether or not they are associated with ElTenedor. It is a purely altruistic action and ElTenedor does not receive any type of financial remuneration for this, the only objective is to support, once again, one of the basic pillars of the industry: Restaurants.
“Our restaurants are in a critical situation as they have seen their income drop dramatically to 0, and very few have the resources to stay in this situation right now. Now our mission is to support the sector and we are convinced that together we will overcome this gap. That is why we have launched, along with other important players in the industry, “Let’s save our restaurants.” We are confident that the purchase of “prepaid vouchers” can be a great help so that the restaurants stay afloat and can continue offering us the best gastronomy once everything has passed, “explains Marcos Alves, CEO of ElTenedor in Spain.
This initiative has been very well received by restaurants, associations and chefs, who see it as a good help to have an income these days and overcome the gap, says Pepa Muñoz, cook at the head of El Cuenco de Pepa and president of the Federation from Cooks and Bakers of Spain FACYRE: “The situation we are living in is very difficult for everyone, both personally and professionally. Right now our highest priority is to help stop the virus and help us to return to our normal activities soon. The catering sector is one of the hardest hit by the impact of this health crisis and more than ever we have to be united and work to overcome this gap. Initiatives such as the ElTenedor and Madrid Merger of “Let’s save our restaurants” that gives us the possibility of offering prepaid vouchers and encourages users to lend us a hand in these hard times, are greatly appreciated and are key to helping the industry get out afloat. We join this initiative, and our clients will be able to buy a voucher to enjoy our gastronomy when all this happens ”
How does the prepaid voucher work?
Users can select with a click their favorite restaurants directly in SalvemosNuestrosRestaurantes.es. Once they select a restaurant, they can choose the amount of the voucher and proceed to pay it. The restaurant will receive the deposit directly into their account and the user will receive their voucher by email. When the time comes, diners will be informed of the restaurant’s opening date so they can enjoy their lunch or dinner.
Other measures of ElTenedor to help restaurants
In addition to this initiative and since the beginning of the health alert, ElTenedor has also implemented other measures to reduce the impact of COVID19 on restaurants. First, the company has offered its reservation management software, ElTenedor Manager, free of charge until the reopening of restaurants, to help reduce the costs that the sector has to face. On the other hand, for a week the restaurants that are part of the platform and have a delivery service, can now give visibility to this service on the web and the ElTenedor app completely free of charge.
