BridgeAId app, the winning project of the MIT COVID19 Challenge

by Clúster FoodService / Wednesday, 08 April 2020 / Published in News, Uncategorized

The BridgeAId project, developed by an international team, has been one of the winners of the MIT Covid19 Challenge, the first virtual hackathon in this crisis in the Massachussetts Institute of Technology. The development part was piloted by Diego Rodríguez (Polaroo) and Víctor Pérez (Plyzer Intelligence). For 48 hours, talents from around the world worked on technological solutions to face problems generated in the COVID19 crisis.

Rodríguez and Pérez, both 23 years old and whose career has been promoted through Plyzer Intelligence, focused their forces on the “track dedicated to the use of data to help protect the most vulnerable people. The rest of the members of the BridgeAId team are enterprising women, between 20 and 35 years old.

Of the 1,500 people (from more than 90 different countries) who were accepted to participate in this initiative, a total of 40 teams (from 3 to 7 members each) worked on this same “track”.

The BridgeAId app wants to alleviate problems related to the exponential growth in demand experienced by social services and NGOs worldwide due to COVID19, which desperately need human and financial resources.

In 48 hours they were able to build the platform, the application promotes the network and coordination of entities that can help in the COVID19 crisis in the food sector. To do this, the problem was analyzed, a business model was proposed and data engineering was implemented to open the app to the public, currently in the Boston area, and with expansion plans in Barcelona, Beirut and New York.

“The application already offers information from some Boston NGOs and can give the user a feeling of what their navigation will be like. We are now entering the phase of implementing payment platforms to make donations and ensure the arrival and management of aid effectively “explains Victor Pérez.

With this tool, people who want to help can access information from the closest NGOs in their area, obtain information about them and make donations.

At Plyzer Intelligence we are proud of the commitment and work of our teams, inside and outside the office, to help improve the decisions of users, companies and social agents.
