Within the COSME Exellence Program is Safe Smart Food, the European project that aims to improve the excellence of the clusters involved, both for their individual contribution and for the enrichment of the collaborative project as well. teaching.
A few days ago the Food Service Cluster team returned to Austria, where they went to submit their proposal to the Kick-off of the Excellence Program “Safe Smart Food”. Conference convened by the European Clusters Collaboration Platform (ECCP) and in collaboration with the Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME). This first meeting was the beginning of the presentation of the different phases of the COSME Excellence Program, and where the consortium, the participating countries, met for the first time with the aim of fostering collaboration and expose the tasks to be worked by each, and thus improve management capacity, creating a better and more favorable ecosystem for the agri-food sector.
This cluster consortium consists of countries in Spain, Lithuania, Latvia and Austria. Packaging Cluster of Catalonia are the leaders of the work team and the coordinator of the project. All five clusters met at the city host of Linz (Austria).
At the end of the project, SMEs will be the main beneficiaries, as they will be able to apply the conclusions that will be drawn towards the end of the program, especially with a focus on development and competitiveness in the market. The nature of this call is therefore multisectoral and multi-stakeholder, that is, it will have numerous agents involved in the achievement of the objectives. The purpose is to create a network of contacts that will nourish the consortium with its own country of origin innovations and retroactively feed on all the knowledge that is shared at the rallies, presenting successful cases that can enrich the change. strategic of the clusters, individually and as a consortium.
With a final budget of € 456,623 for the Safe Smart Food program and a contribution of € 347,467 from the European Union, and 20 months to finish the stains. The needs of SMEs and stakeholders, as well as end consumers, will be analyzed to provide services that are more in line with the strategic trends of the sector, such as food security or the lack of added value to the products in question. There are also 5 years to oversee the development of the program to implement the improvements of the study, which will always be in accordance with the strategy set by the consortium. The tools to achieve these conditions will be: innovation, internationalization, networking, sustainability and C2C conferences.
