These awards are organized by the Cluster Foodservice de Catalunya, with the collaboration of Fòrum Gastronòmic, and seek to promote, promote and reward those startups that create products or services capable of improving, through innovation, the food and gastronomy sectors .

The Cluster Foodservice is the cluster of the food processing industry (manufacturers of beverages, fresh food, dry food, prepared dishes, etc.), the distribution companies (logistics operators, cash & carry, wholesalers and distributors) and the restoration channel. The entity is a non-profit association that is part of the Catalonia Clusters Program of the Generalitat de Catalunya and has the Bronze Label certification of the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA).

The entity brings together companies from the entire value chain as well as institutions related to the sector (universities, R + D + i centers, professional associations …). Currently it has 51 associates. The associated companies have a total turnover of approximately 2,900 million euros and more than 24,700 workers. The main objective of the cluster is to strengthen the competitiveness of companies through innovation and cooperation.

The Fòrum Gastronòmic is an event that has been held since 1999, currently alternating its headquarters in Girona, Coruña and Barcelona. The fair brings together the most outstanding professionals in the field of gastronomy: leading companies in the foodservice sector, equipment, services, distribution, food producers and artisans, chefs, etc. It also has a program of activities designed exclusively to offer the best tools to professionals, becoming a space for training, reflection and debate, an ideal place to interact with business people and professionals, a platform to retain customers, capture new ones and discover the latest trends in the sector.

To promote commercial exchange, Fòrum Gastronòmic also attracts international buyers interested in the sectors present at the fair.

May participate in the prizes regulated by these bases, all those companies that meet the following requirements:

– New Creation. Beginning of the activity as of January 1, 2015

– Constituted with its own legal personality and registered as a company in the R.M.

– Minimum team of 2 people, one of whom must have full time dedication

– Headquarters in Spanish territory

Requirements

It is essential that the project is aimed at the food and / or gastronomic sector and involves a tangible and applicable innovation. An innovative project is one that is based on the introduction or significant improvement of a product (good or service), a process, a new method of marketing or organization and that supposes a competitive advantage. The possible innovations must be related to one of these fields:

o Packaging and packaging improvement. Reduction of plastics, sustainable materials o Mobile applications (orders, payments, …) / Booking systems, dialogue with the consumer (B2B2C), degree of satisfaction

o Smart Kitchens / Gadgets / Sensory o Superfoods / Substitute foods / New foods / Probiotics / New protein o Social experiences and recommendations

o Virtual reality / 3D food printing / Artificial intelligence / Predictive control / Internet of Foods

o Healthy food (healthy food): veganism, gluten-free, allergens, nutrition and dietetics, raw, anti-aging / Antioxidants / Aging well / Food safety, etc.

o Food delivery / Distribution, food sales / Vending o Lengthening of useful life / Reduction of sugars, salts and additives

o Recovery of waste / Reduction of waste o Efficiency in transportation routes for the reduction of contamination in the distribution of food

Development of the competition

The evaluation of the projects will be developed in three phases:

Phase 1: Reception of projects

Analysis and pre-selection of projects based on the documentation provided. The startups interested in participating would have to send the request for participation and the rest of the documentation by e-mail to Marga Obama, projectes@forumgastronomic.com with a copy to info@www.clusterfoodservice.org. The deadline for sending the documentation will end on August 31, 2018 at 14h.

Phase 2: Pre-selection of 10 finalist projects

Preselection of the 10 finalist startups, among all those presented, based on the documentation provided.The Foodservice Cluster and Gastronomic Forum will inform the participating startups of the results of the pre-selection from October 19, 2018.

Phase 3: Selection of the winning project

The 10 finalist startups will present a presentation of their company in front of the jury members. This presentation will take place on Monday, November 19, 2018, starting at 12 noon in a space on the premises of the Fòrum Gastronòmic Girona’18 (in the Palacio de Congresos Auditorium and the Girona Trade Fair Center). Each company will have a maximum of 10 minutes. Subsequently, the jury may formulate the questions that it considers relevant for the evaluation of the project.

The participants will have the audiovisual materials necessary for the presentation. In the afternoon, all the finalists will participate in a meeting with potential investors.

The winning startup will be announced during the awards ceremony, which will be held on Monday, November 19 at an emblematic site in the city of Girona with the presence of representatives of the Foodservice Cluster companies, representatives of Fòrum Gastronòmic , investors, chefs of international renown and specialized press. The event will also count with the celebration of a keynote address and end with a dinner hosted by a prestigious chef.
